Winding (makisen) is a coil of wire used to utilize magnetic field lines generated by electromagnetic induction. Additionally, to utilize inductance (the property where changes in current induce electromotive force in windings, etc.), the coiled wire is referred to as a coil (inductor), and the wire that is wound in this process is called winding. Paper-wrapped flat copper wire is a winding primarily used in oil-filled large transformers and switchgear.
